Which brakes do you recommend/run on an M37x? My rear brakes are at 2mm left - definitely due for a replacement. I'm going to replace front and rear pads and rotors.

I prefer something that will last a long time and have good braking performance. I've never had slotted or drilled rotors - are these worth pursuing? I'm not going to be tracking this car - but I do, on occasion, do some spirited driving. And given my last two total losses were as a result of people turning in front of me at the last second and my brakes not stopping me fast enough, I would like something with some good grip. Not that my brakes were bad.....in both cases they were Hawk HPS and good rotors and minimal wear...

Slotted rotors do not perform better with braking / less surface area for pads to grip. They are better for track event driving because they are more efficient at cooling. But they do look cool and that's enough for me :)

That's what I remember reading from the last two times I did brakes. I did not like the rust that my previous rotors had, though. I will probably go with regular rotors and semi-metallic pads. I've never had carbon pads, but hear they're not all the great. I don't like brake dust, but I can deal with it. I usually wash the car and scrub the wheels every other week.

I don't like the rust either... Seems to be a common problem with Nissan/Infiniti rotors, even out here in California. When I put my sport wheels on I am definitely changing to some rotors that won't rust.

I have the EBay coated rotors and they aren't all that rusty (and I'm up in Upstate NY). My calipers, on the other hand, look like complete ****.

I ended up buying Centric Premium rotors which I've used with great results on my 06 Grand Marquis (with Hawk HPS pads). I opted to get the StopTech street performance pads. Everything fro Amazon for $330 after taxes and Prime free shipping :).

I hope to knock these, my serpentine belt, and fog lights out this week then all that's left is spark plugs.

Good choice, that is exactly what I was going to recommend! I ran slotted Centric on my G with Hawk ceramic pads and it was a great combo. I've been running the HPS pads on my Camaro for almost 100k now and that includes autocross so that's what is going on the M when its time. Clean up your calipers with a wire brush and spray them with some caliper paint to keep them from looking bad.
