Hey guys, before you burn me I did use the search function but could not find a good answer.

Here's my problem. I am rebuilding an SR20DET red top. Nothing to major just OEM gaskets and stuff with shot peened rods and crank. The head is all Brian Crower hardware with stage 2 cams and stopper.

I am trying to decide on bearings. I know the OEM bearings are in different grades. I wanted to use ACL but they only come in standard sizes. Does anyone have any advise on this? Should I just OEM bearings and call it a day? Are the OEM bearings ok to use since I'm hoping my rpms will climb a little higher than stock with the head built. Thanks for any help.

I thought this would be a simple answer.

Bump. Wow, the guy asking about the ebay air/fuel gage got so many answers. Is there no one here that has built an sr20det? I just want to know what bearings you used and if it was a success or not. I've got every part I need sitting in front of me. Can't do anything until I decide on bearings. Thanks

Well I was also going to use ACL bearings until I found out they only have standard size. Then I went to phase2motortrend and they told me that they have oem ones but they can get them WPC treated which is supposed to make them way much stronger and reliable. Heres the web site that explains what WPC is http://www.wpctreatment.com also heres p2m web site http://www.phase2motortrend.com their bearings are under oem sr20det parts. Well any ways I'm just going to use oem bearings that have been WPC treated. Hopes these helps at all.

OK, really stuck on this. I'm seriously only bearings away from putting my car together. Looked at the WPC treatment but I'm wondering if I want my bearings that strong. I mean if something gives I would really like it to be the bearing and not one of the two things it seperates. I mean I can pull the car on the rack and switch out bearings in an hour for next to nothing. Am I thinking right? Anyway.....

Anyone have any thoughts. This is my first SR20 build and would welcome anyones advice. I'm thinking I just might go with oem and hope they hold. So...are the SR20det and SR20de bearings the exact same thing. Or, are they a little different. If the same I can run down and pick them tomorrow and have my car together this weekend. But if they are different in even the slightest manner let me know.

If nothing else can you answer these with 100% certainty : Are the bearings and rings the same between a rwd SR20DET and fwd SR20DE

That would make my life that much easier.
