sweet topic guys, im finishing up my swap as we speak and i bought this duralast battery thinking it would fit... it was 9in long, 5 inches wide... it almost worked, if i did some more cutting on the batterytray/fender well it might... but im just going to take it back and order a westco for now... i refuse to go trunk mount

Odyssey battery. You can find some great deals on them and they work great.

Why not just put in in the trunk or hatch?

I have an Optima Redtop. It's big, bulky, heavy, but it works damn good.

Taylor relocation kit.

the reason i dont want to put it in the trunk is b/c i cut a nasty hole in my battery tray, and i didnt have the money to paint my battery tray during the swap either... i dont know about you guys, but my battery tray is kinda ugly... i just want to cover it up with a nice looking battery

i just cut the tray out, attached a aluminum plate and have a distribution block and fuse holder on it. i have not permanently attached it yet, but i will tomorrow. and take pictures.

the tray is not that hard to take out. you can either drill the tig welds out or do what i did and use a pneumatic chisel. the panels underneath are weak after you remove the battery box so you will need to reinforce it with some sort of plate.

I just installed my FMIC a few weeks ago. I used a lawn tractor battery. So far it's worked perfectly. Starts everytime. It's light and cheap.

Yeah, the Miata battery dies pretty quick. I'm thinking of doing a relocation kit for just this reason.
