Hey guys! Got a stumper here... I've been contemplating which deck to get and have thought about it for like two weeks and I'm still 50/50. Basically I can either get:

Kenwood DNX5140 for cheap because it's on clearance at Best Buy (tax in with install and accessories including bluetooth for $900. Retail for deck alone is $1000 plus tax)

OR

Kenwood DNX7160 on staff for $1600 tax-in with everything (retail for deck alone is $1800).

The advantages of the DNX7160 are:1. 6.9" Fullscreen compared to 6.1" with buttons on side and disk input in front on the DNX51402. Built in traffic for GPS3. Wireless Streaming of songs through bluetooth4. Multi-language capabilities since I do have some àsian songs where there are foreign characters.

The question is, is it really worth $800 (nearly double) more... thx!

P.S. Not sure if I should put this in audio section, but since its a poll, thought I`d put it here... moderators please move if necessary!

i dont think those features are worth paying almost twice the price, but going the cheaper route has never really gone well with me

Check on amazon. I just bought an avic x910 for 550. If your gonna do the install yourself i would go that route. That way if you do find it cheaper you might Find the higher end head unit for about the same price as the cheaper one.

Theres really no way I can find each unit cheaper I think. The DNX5140 I'm basically getting for $400 (CAD) when it retails for $999.99. The DNX7160 is brand new, basically just came out like this week. It retails for $1799.99 but I work at Best Buy so I can get it for $1300. Installers at my store are doing the install. The price I stated on the post includes the bluetooth adaptor for the 5140 (7160 is built in) and all the other stuff like dash, harness, sterring wheel adaptor, ipod cable etc... The difference is quite literally $800 between the two no matter what I do lol... As much as I would want those features, dunno whether its really worth it. But so far seems like everyone thinks its not worth it? Guess I'll just follow the majority haha... more feedback plz? thxthx!!!

The cheaper one does everything you want it to do or u wouldnt have posted it. You posted this hoping that we would either 1 tell you to buy the cooler newer one or 2 bc u dont wanna spend that extra $$ but u need someone to tell you ur dumb if u do sooooooo

YOUR DUMB IF YOU SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS NOT WORTH $800 EXTRA

If you can get the 5140 for 400 like you said, then the total should not be 900. I would go with the 5140, and the other parts should cost you under 200 for sure. That would include buying the trim kit from Nissan.

If you work at Bestbuy, just make friends with an installer and buy him a case of beer or something for the cost of the install, or if want, try installing it yourself. It's really not that difficult.

I'm going against the grain slightly. If you've got the money, a larger screen is always better. It's amazing how much difference less than an inch can make when it comes to mobile video. I also think the EQ is probably better (more bands) on the 7160 and it probably has higher voltage pre-amp outputs which is a nice added benefit. I understand the cost goes up substantially, but for me the added features make the 7160 far more desirable. Either way, I think you'll be happy though.

again this is coming from an A/V nut no offense apple. Unless your going to shows and doing a video"show" this one may not be a big diff. But like Apple said it is a lil better but it depens on how big ur going on audio if your not doing a crazy audio setup the other ones fine

Pretty much what Phenom said, if the OP has no ideas about the extra bands or what they mean, along with the higher voltage pre-outs, then it probably means they aren't worth the extra money for him.

I'm assuming that the list of comparisons is all the difference between the two that the OP sees, which would make me suggest the cheaper option.

Personally I totally agree with the bigger screen being such a luxury. My 8120 is great

I voted for the Best buy one only because I don't see what your getting too justify an additional 700.00.

Well, ur right. The cheaper one DOES do the main things I want it to do, however I would like the features of the more expensive one too. E.g. stupid as it sounds, the aftermarket decks have one disc input, so chances are, I'll burn a DVD with all my songs and slot it in/new songs I can put on an ipod. But with the amount of asian songs I'll have, it will be hell trying to find a song I want. That being said, I COULD live without it, just a LOT more convient? and ya, $700 more lol

The total goes up to about $900 because of the bluetooth adaptor for calling ($160) and tax which is a f'ed up 13% in canada!

Well I deff do care about audio quality, bit of an audiophile myself with Home Theatre Stuff lol... I'm the Home Theatre Supervisor in one of the best buys incase anyone wants hook ups? Thing is, the 7160 does have more options for the equalizer BUT one, I'm staying with stock speakers and possible just adding a sub. Two, the voltage out on both units are the same. Hence I didn't mention the audio difference/side of both decks.

Either way, thanks for all the input. I must say, based on what everyone is saying I'm still 50/50 lol. So I'll prob just go with 'majority rules' haha

I hear you on the tax thing... if the total is really 900, then consider getting the DNX 8120 from ebay? It's refurb'ed but it'll have the features that you want:
