Hey all. I just moved to SoCal (corona) from NY and I'm looking to buy a 240. In NY I owned 2 DSM's mainly because of the AWD (snow drifts!!!!) and of course their potential with boost. However now that I'm in a climate where I won't have to deal with snow I want RWD. My question is this. With DSM's our golden year so to speak was 1992 - due to the 6bolt motor/4bolt rear end (strongest combo offered). Is there a particular year for the 240's that are would be worth looking for? I'm still learning about all the emissions laws so I'm not looking to swap an SR20 just yet. I'm more interested in a car that can handle for right now. Power I'll worry about later. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

89-90 were the SOHC engines, after that they're all DOHC. There really isn't much difference between the years besides cosmetically. 89-90 also had the "pignose" front end and of course the S14 started in 95 with the change in 97. Search around, I think you can find plenty of info to help make your decision easier. I would just suggest trying to find one in good shape that's rust free.

There really isn't any particular year to look for, theyre all good. Most of the diffrences are cosmetic anyways. Just that 89 to 93's (s13's) are probably easier to find then 95's to 98's (s14's) with the exception of the all vert' 94's s13's which are really rare as well.

Youre in socal, so it shouldn't be all that hard really, just expect some realllllly inflated prices as opposed to other places.

IMO that is too much for the 89 fastback. Not a bad price on the 96 tho but I would hold out for an SE because they are 5 lug insted of 4.
