still got a 91 ka24de that won't run. i can turn the key for hours and it will crank but wont start. i have set the timing on it e few times but nothing, the closest i had it to starting was when it was 180 off. are these interferance engines? also if i bent my valves somehow, whats the easiest way to tell? oh yes and if i were to swap an sr20 with ecu into it, would the super hicas steering still work?

if you bent your valves, the most obvious thing would be the lack of compression in one or more cylinders. go to an auto parts store, buy a compression tester. if your compression is bad, pour a small amount of oil into the bad cylinder(s) and do the compression test again. if compression is significantly better, you have bad rings. if compression is not better, then it's your valves.
