So I ordered one of those "speedchip" things. I've heard both good and bad about them so lets not get started on that, I got it for $2 so I dont much care if it works or not, was just kinda curious.

ANYWAY, I have a '95 240SX that I wanna put it in. It has a ka24de motor with a cold air intake.

It says I need to disconnect the IAT (Intake air temperature) sensor and put the resistor chip in it. But I'm not exactly sure where it is.

On the picture it shows of them doing it on a Probe/MX6 V6 it looks near the throttle body. I dunno, anyone wanna help me out here?

all it does is fool the ecu into thinking the air is less dense than it actually is, causing the ecu to lean out the mixture.

not a good thing to do to your car.

I've also heard that it causes the engine to use more fuel which is good since with an aftermarket intake/filter it's using more air so it evens out the ratio.

But yeah, I think I found it, just kinda off the throttle body thingy.

With an aftermarket intake, your car will use a little more air, but our cars have mass air flow sensors. These sensors will know the car is getting more air, and the ECU will adjust automatically. I don't think your chip will do anything positive.

On a Honda, or some other car with a MAP sensor, a chip might do a little something, since you will run a little lean when you put intake\header\exhaust and the chip can richen it back out.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, your car does not have an intake air sensor, because the mass airflow sensor takes temperature into account, thus eliminating the need for another sensor. I know 91-94 S13's don't have them, but I'm not positive about S14's. As far as I know, the only 240's with an intake air sensor in the airbox are 89-90 S13's.

the MAF is there to keep the ratio correct. your not dealing with a speed density MAP system. the resistor mod LEANS out the engine.

it goes on the outside air temp thig it makes the ecu think it is 32 degrees outside so it RICHENS te mixture, hence the poor gass milage. doesnt realy help too much if at all but for 2 dollars wtf not.

the nissan ecu's are rich from the factory. making the mixture even richer would net a power loss. the idea is even worse than i though.
