IIRC, it shows in the Message Center, and you really Don't want to get anywhere near low enough to activate the warning.

I'd recommend you top off, and then re-fill after about 200 miles (or less) on the trip.

You should keep tank at ¼ or more to prolong life of fuel pump.

Wise owners never run them until low fuel light illuminates.

Fix your sender.

Yeah but doesn't the car have a couple gallon reserve when the light comes on?

Keeping the pump (as much as possible) submersed helps extend the life of the pump. The fuel acts as a "coolant".

Couldn't find tangalora's thread today, but here's one to read:

If your gauge doesn't work, it's probably because the float was bent, or the wire connection failed, when the fuel pump was replaced.

I've never seen any "Low Fuel" indicator on my '94. Either I don't have one or I've never let it get low enough. Does the '94 have one, I've always wished it did but assumed it didn't as I've never seen it.

Yes it does otherwise that would be dumb as hell .

The fuel pump is probably in a sump. It getting the point to where part of the body is not summersed in fuel doesnt matter as long as its still getting fuel through it.

However this is a rare occaision.

Your 94 does have it. Normally you have "A" and "B" trip meters on the message center, but when the fuel is low, the "B" meter is replaced by the low fuel warning. It's a good thing though, that you've never seen it. Keep up the good refueling practice.

At 13mpg with a HEAVY right foot, you can go 230-240 miles before the needle is just above "E". [I know this because my 100mph commutes yield 13mpg.] As Rex said, just keep an eye on the tripmeter and top it off at least every 200 mi.

Most Lincolns, BMWs, Cadillacs, and modern (JUNK) MBs have a nifty feature where they tell you the gallons consumed, gallons remaining, and distance to empty. DTE, imho, is even better than a fuel gauge.

Actually the Fuel pump in a G50 Q45 does not sit in a sump. The pump is mounted hanging into the tank with a collection tube that lays on the bottom of the tank.

See this pic (That should take you to mid way through the second page to a post by tangalora.

Also, the Q45, uses a 3 speed pump that is known to suffer from low voltage/high amperage heat thus wearing/damaging it at a faster than normal pace.

Take this from several Q45 owners withs tons of miles, keeping an extra 8 gallons or so (filling up at 1/2 tank) helps extend the life of an OEM fuel pump and the FPCM.

ok well get this guys the needle was on "E" right.I put in like $18 dollars and it really didnt move. now I never filled the car up so I really cant say if the thing is broke but, if I put in $18 when it was on "E" shouldnt have atleast go up to like .25 of a tank or what?
