Whew!

Here's the deelio:

First off, I can't log on during the day (I'm at work). So that's why I didn't reply ASAP.

Second, I didn't think anyone really used the side menu - What's wrong with just using the forums tab at the top?

Third, if there's a particular component of the side menu that you guys want back, I'll see what i can do. But its removal is part of our rehab of the site - making the ads fit better and be less obtrusive and other such things the NICO membership asked for.

Let it never be said that I don't listen to you guys! :)

The forums tab is a real PITA.

With the quick menu one can jump from forum to forum without backing up to the NICO home page. I can go from this thread right here... immediately to another forum entirely. It is a real annoying process to have to back out TWICE to get to the forum root page.

Hmmmm.

I never noticed.

The quick menu doesn't tell you if there have been any posts since you were last there... So whatever time you save not going to the forums page, you may waste looking at a page where nothing has happened.

Keep the feedback coming guys!

For me personally, the B/S/T forum changes every second... as do the General sections of the main page and the 240 section and 240 tech section.

yeah AZ, I use the quick launch all the time... I really hate goin up to NICO Forums, THEN goin to the KA section, and THEN to the KA-T section if thats where I wanna go. It just takes too long. Before, we could just flip from forum to forum-- its a lot easier and quicker that way.

Put it baaaaaaaaaaaaack! :(

also: moving the "Active Topics" box to down below the ads isnt very cool either. I understand you guys wanna give priority the people who are paying, but dont take away from the functionality and ease of the site!

I really did like it the way it was...it's quite superior to the way most sites are layed out, and I enjoyed that. =\

Ya without the quick links on the side I probably won't visit any of the other parts of the forum. It is entirely too much work without the links.

Quick menu was a great feature. That's how I always navigate between forums. I dont mind the hot topics on the first page being moved down, but I like being one click away from each forum with the side menu.

Looks like EVERYBODY wants it back. It truly is an essential navigation tool for this huge site. I don't care about the ads on the front page or the hot topics being moved... I ignore them both anyway. But the quick forum jump neeeeeds to come back.

I have always gone up to the forums tab since as Greg mentioned, I never know if there is a new post so I would be wasting my time.

Perhaps it is essential to some of you guys, I never use it, so not everyone must use it

:pface

I dont understand, its not like it was taking up space that is now filled in by something else: it was just removed for either no reason or aesthetic reasons..... just bring it back already!

Poor Greg, he changes something in an attempt to make it a bit better and we lambaste him for it. I feel bad for suggesting euthanasia now :( Oh well, I AM happy about the quick links being back!

We've place the Quicklinks (NICO Menu) back online within the Forums only.

Sounds like a reasonable compromise. I guess I can tolerate one extra step each time I come on, as long as the Quicklink stays in the forum and thread pages.
