The three places that will be recommended as a result of the search are 1) Heavy Throttle 2) Daunttless aka Afterdark 3) Wayne @ Phase2. And of course they get recommended for very good reason, but I'd be interested to know about other places people get thier motors from. When all these newbies ask or by some miracle, they search...all they'll see are those three which will make it seem like they are the only three places to get an sr, sort of like how Motorex and now RBMotoring are the only places to get Skylines. This oliogopoly of the "big three" could eventually put smaller, yet equally reliable sources out of business. Sorry for the rant, but I'm an EOP kind of guy :D

I'd like to bring this thread back to the top. Everyone talks about where to buy an sr20det, but no one talks about the differences in the suppliers.

For instance, Heavy Throttle doesn't sell the stock piping and intercooler. I was shocked when I read that on their website. However, on the opposite end, Flashoptions sells a front clip with everything for even less. Problem there is that it's overseas and if something goes wrong...well you're just screwed. Not to mention they don't have the great reputation that HT has. Not yet anyway.

So do you see what I'm talking about? You pay all this money, but they're all a little different. This needs to be discussed any time someone brings up buying an SR20det. It all figures into the pricing and service.

BTW, Dauntless you da man! What does your engine come with...or to look at it the other way around, what would I have to purchase extra in order to complete my install? Thanks!

As I mentioned in my previous post in this thread, I would also like to hear experiences from everyone who purchased motors from places other than the big three (HT, Daunttless, Phase2). I'm in the market for an SR soon and I'm leaning towards HT, but that's becuase they are relatively close to me.

I got mine from phase2. Engine runs like a champ, nothing was broke on it, everything works fine. I am 100% satisfied. I just ran a 14.49 @ 97.56 with a 2.4 60' so I know the engine is capable of low 14's on stock boost. I'm real happy with that engine.

I got my clip from one of my friends, . even though I haven't put it in my car yet, delievary was quick (they have them instock) it took them 2 days to pack it. Came with everything, 180sx key, Digi climate control, body panels, suspension minus the shocks/struts stock IC ect. Even came with the stock steeringhweel and gague cluster. So for now they are great, they give a start up warntee so that is good. Wish me luck on the swap. here are some pics

14.49 not bad on stock boost. What mods do you have??

FMIC, Centerforce Clutch, Fuel Pump, 3" downpipe, catco cat, 80mm exhaust... etc.

My 60' was 2.4, and that explains the whole story. I had no traction. 205/55/ZR16 kumho's at 48psi don't hook up real well.

All you *need* for my engines is a downpipe, we sell 3 inch aftermarket ones for 100 dollars. Ours comes with the stock mount intercooler and all piping. Enjoy your day!
