Current oem is # 66U91 on front and #66U85 on rear.

We only use oem since noise and vibration is still a concern to our customers.

OEM all the waay baaby. Get them from Infiniti of Scottsdale. In the long run you're better off.

Yesterday I was crusing through downtown and realized a light had changed. I was crusing along about 40mpg. I pushed the brakes hard and was surprised at how quickly I came to a stop and without alot of caos. The Q just sat down and stopped. Saved me from a wreck for sure.

All those freshly turned rotors, rebuilt calipers, and new OEM pads sure were worth it.

The problem: without the brake sensor wire the tail lights do not work on my 93 Q but the brake lights do. I have to change out the rear pads on the 94 Q and I want to avoid the same problem

The dealership offers OEM pads which come with the brake sensors but they cost a pretty penny and no warranty. Besides OEM pads have never really satisfied me... they overheat easily

Stores like Kragen/Autozone are cost effective and worse but dont come with the brake sensors but have lifetime warranty -- i can just change em out when they wear.

There is no correlation between the brake pad sensor and your tail lights. The OEM pads are much softer, and more dusty, and have no warranty... but they are the best overall stopping pads in my opinion. I wouldn't go with anything else unless I was trying to acheive some specific goal - like using the Q as a track car in a specific temperature range. For street driving, OEM is by far the best I have found.

Brake pad wear sensor shouldn't affect tail lights. There's a thread around here that talks about how to short tham sensor out if you use aftermarket pads.

I have always used Bendix Ceramic pads in all my cars including the G50. To each his own, but for me it's ceramic only.

I've always used OEM. They are a little more $$$ but you sleep well at night. The car just feels right when everything on it belongs.

I use hawk pads, theyre a bit more expensive than OEM but I like them. if you dont ever race the car then OEM is BY FAR the best bang for the buck.. Under $100 for all 4 corners.

Get em from Joe!!

The Z32 weighted less than Q yet had the same diameter and weight front rotors so not an upgrade just staus quo at best as far as pad and rotor temperatures....................more bling than substance as the Z has to be upgrade to stop..................all about the highest rotor weight not how many pistons.

New oem pads, new oem shims, and Centric PREMIUM [not the cheapo standard reprocessed low grade junk iron] rotors along with an expert brake technican can make the Q stop as well as the tires will allow.

Back in 1990 that was 129 feet from 60 mph................tires are always the limiting factor as any engagement of ABS [from tires slipping] just lengthens the stop.

Oem brakes have 2.3 times the 300 HP of engines since they can stop in 3.0 seconds from 60 compared to engine taking 6.9 seconds to accelerate to 60.

The trick use to be 235/60/15 Michelins [higher load index allowed the front tires to not over heat in a panic stop in Summer] even though the wear index was an unsticky 400 vs oem 170.

Now only 225 96V so Tires are overheated when doing a 120 mph panic stop.................tire fade before oem pad fade.

All about managing heat and setting up components to match what you want to accomplish.

Well. When my Q is running well, I like to drive fast. At least 50 in a residential and 60+ on main streets. Sometimes, I get caught at lights and I need to stop, or there are idiots who switch lanes with no signal. So I'll need to stop quickly and safely. I don't necessarily need high performance racing brakes, just something to stop the car and feel nice and tight. Not all mushy and will induce a slight panic when the pedal is all the way down and you're still moving.

IMO it's all about driving pro-actively versus reactively, like flying. Thinking ahead and looking ahead. Been doing it for a long time and it works.

Saves brakes, tires, gazz, and blood pressure. Maybe keeps underwear clean too.

I got my "NEW" 2000 Q45 in hand Sat 15 and drove it 846 miles with stops only for gas. The brakes are powerful I must say. However only once did I even come close to a panic stop and that was in the rain on I 10 in FL. The stopping power was impressive. HELL the whole car IS IMPRESSIVE ! ! !

The seller had the brake pads replaced by a regular repair shop prior to deliverywith "premium pads". Along with an oil change $ 200.00. Watta a nice guy.

I understand.

Most of the time it's pro-active. But sometimes, I lose myself, due to worrying aobut something else, not concentrationg because of girlfriend trouble, and just random things. Even the best pads in the world won't save an unalert driver, but they can help. Right?
