Which wires under the hood go to the Knock Sensor?

I know the sensor itself is in the engine, but where are the wiresexposed so i can see if my bad knock sensor is caused by wiringinstead of buying a new one.

Its a connector on the balance tube towards the driver side of the car. The sheath on the harness side has a yellow band around it. Are you throwing a code 34?

Are you planning on replacing the sensor? If so do you know how much of a job it is to get to it? It is a big job to do and you can bypass it temporarily, but it isn't recommended to make it a permanent fix. To get to the sensor you have to remove the upper plenum, fuel rail and lower plenum just to get to the sensor itself.

Mine has gone bad too and it was putting it into a safety map. 300zx owners put a 1mega ohm resistor in the harness connector to fool that the sensor is still working.

KS and O2 sensor connectors are the same and can be confused/switched. A bad KS doesn't cause the CEL to illuminate. Pull some ECM stored codes. The KS harness is a two-ended cable and the connection to the KS is one of those square wire clip types.

I have code 34 and it runs sluggish when warm. I know it's the KS.I just needed to know how to get to it to check the wires first. But i'm doing the bypass until i get the money to fully fix it.

It's the only harness the goes into the lower plentum in the back.

If you are planning to do it right in the future also plan to do the timing belt cause you have to remove that to get the lower plentum off.

No, i need the picture of the connector under the hood, not the sensor itself. Because i looked everywhere at the back of the engine and all the plugs we tried didn't go to the KS. I'm just trying to find the clip so i can put the resistor in that clip to see if i get the power back.

The cable that goes to the Knock sensor is the only one back there that goes down under the plenum.About dead center in the rear if I recall. It goes down then straight to the front of the engine under the intake to the sensor.

Is it the one that slides onto a metal piece?Because we tried that one.

But if it isn't that one or another that i have a yellow band around, then i think someones messed with it already.

Because we can't find it.

The connector that connects to the Knock sensor is clipped onto a metal piece. If it wasnt raining down here I would get ya a pic.But it you follow the cable coming from the connector that's clipped to a metal piece it should run straight under the plenum to the center of the engine block valley. That would be the KS circuit.

Yep, that's the one i thought it was.I put the 1 mega ohm resistor in it and it didn't change the performance. But it's raining down here also, but i know which clip you're talking about, soi don't need the pic anymore.

Thanks a lot man, and if you have any idea why the resistor won't work, then let me know. I think it may be wiring...
