where to put the ground for an amp

i installed 2 12 inch kenwood subs and a kenwood amp in the trunk of my hatch and i grounded the amp to where the seat bolts in but my amp keeps on shutting off and i was told that i have to move my ground...i was just wondering where other ppl grounded theres and how well its working for you

Have you checked other things, like your ohm load on the amp, if it is to low it will shut off. also check the voltage before, during and after, it shuts off. to low a voltage it will sut off. You can groung your amp about anywhere as long as you are making good contact. at my shop we use ground lugs, they bolt/screw to the body and you attach you wire to the that, here is a pic http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=14

thanks for the info but i got it working fine it was weird i was told to put a washer between the bolt and the ground so i unscrewed the bolt but then realized that none of the washers i had fit so i just screwed the bolt back in and believe it or not it has been working fine hasnt shut off on me yet i even put on some really bass heavy songs and its been woking fine

Seat bolts are fine for ground, you probably just didn't have a good enough contact between the cable and the bolt. Any pre-existing hole in metal is fine, just make sure your ground cable isn't too long. 1 ft and under is ideal.
