You seem attracted to cities with big slums, how aboutJesda wrote:I'm doing more road trips again. I stopped doing them for a while other than a few regional ones here and there. I want to knock a few more out before graduating and I'm open to ideas.
There's not much left of anything major that I haven't seen in the US. Maybe its time to go to Europe or China or dig more into Canada.
I have no interest in Mexico, but I guess I'd go if a flight deal showed up and my Spanish-speaking friend tagged along.
This alone is incentive enough.frapjap wrote:and excellent clam chowder down the street from work.
i'm going to b-more this summer with a side trip to dc. we should hook up. for a few beers, not a sexy time encounter. unless you're into that, in which case i'd introduce you to my good friend john (pronounced "yon").Poyzinous wrote:What about DC? Hey, if he enjoyed Detroit and its slums, Camden is like Detroit on steroids! Camden had the highest murder rate per capita in the country for many years. . In recent years, Camden has gotten some money invested along the river. The battleship New Jersey is docked there, they have a nice aquarium, and the Sony Center where Mandy Moore might perform....uh...concerts.frapjap wrote:Camden, NJ is a DUMP! i'm going to let that one slide, but only because you make me lol.Bubba1 wrote:Pat's Steaks....buuurp > new England clam chowda
Very good points- I like DC as well and need to go on another trip there. 3 days/2nights was not enough time!Bubba1 wrote:

It's also across the river from Philadelphia, which is rich in history and home to the culinary capital of the country: 9th and Passyunk. (Pat's Steaks....buuurp > new England clam chowda)
DC is great as well as New England for vacations. I've done both several times.
I hope you are not referring to me as Yon again in public? If so, you get the hose again.numbnuts240 wrote:

Very compelling argument, BUTfrapjap wrote:

I was just in Newport and Jamestown yesterday. I love New England.frapjap wrote:Camden, NJ is a DUMP! I was just there last week. Ugh.
Come to New England, I (and anyone else who wants to come) can get you to to the best spots/attractions in Rhode Island and Mass. You'll need a week here to really get it all, though. - Herreshoff sailing museum- Newport Mansions (I think I still have tickets, too)- Boston and the historical attractions, of course.- New Bedford- home to the richest city in the world, TWICE, the setting for Moby d!ck and the physical Fishermans Bethel, and excellent clam chowder down the street from work. Oh, and I can take you through our processing plant so you can see how your Wendy's fish sandwich is made.- Jamestown- Brown Univ, Harvard- ProvidenceYou're welcome to live on my couch or air mattress for a base of operations. I live 20 minutes from Providence, about 25 from Newport, and about 35-40 minutes from Boston. Email me if you'd like.

Well, come to springfield and I'll share a beer with you. Thats where I usually go. But no sexytime thing. I might have a severely violent reaction to that.numbnuts240 wrote:

Good plan for the brewery tour. Thats what we used to do at the Newport Storm Brewery. Those guys are awesome. Partied with the owners a time or two as well.Bubba1 wrote:

Pat Steaks served with a cold Sam Adams > a brewery tour...
Brewery tours do rock. An old local college tradition was to go on the free Shaeffer brewery tour, which included free beer at the end. The trick was to go on the last tour of the day which lasted longer as the brewmaster tourguide was totally soused by then....
Well, I'm not sure I see how one can compare an expensive Ivy league university (that has a young female celeb as an undergrad) with a great burping sandwich..frapjap wrote:

I'll attempt to one up you on the Pat Steaks again. I'll likely fail.Brown University (where Emma Watson can be seen) > Pat Steaks
