Something to think about, however, is the event of a rollover. All OEM seat belts allow you to "submarine," or slide down in the event of a rollover. This way if the roof caves in your head isn't in harms way. Anything more than a 3 point harness (OEM is 3 point) keeps you firmly in place no matter what the situation is. I suggest installing the harness and everything with the harness bar, but keep your OEM seat belt installed and only use the harness on the track.
Not to mention in order for the harness to even hold you in the seat it needs to be strapped tight to your body, which isn't ideal for daily driving. Most people that daily with a harness don't strap themselves in tight, which is probably as bad as not wearing a seat belt at all. Really the only safe way to run a harness is to have a roll cage, but at that point the car no longer becomes very daily friendly.
Sorry for kinda taking over your thread, I'm just regurgitating the information I've read in threads like this over the years haha.
You didn't take over my thread, basically everything you said I didn't really know, so I appreciate all the information you have just supplied me with. I regret spending money on these seats and harnesses now... I thought it was safer to have harnesses. Guess I was wrong...again. Like always.
And yeah definitely a big no to the roll cage, 1) My dad would flip s*** (ex-Vietnam marines have bad tempers) 2) I can't afford it.
I guess I'll just run the harnesses anyways and tell people if in the event my car flips they are going to die as a heads up since my car didn't come with seatbelts.
Well I appreciate all the help and information you guys have given me, and tolerating my ignorance to cars.
