I am hoping to get HID in the mail today or tomorrow at the latest. When I was hooking up the power wire for my amp, I noticed there was not alot of open space under the hood. I was wondering if anyone has any pics of where they mounted their ballasts? Did you use zip ties, double-sided tape or screws to mount them? I am hoping installation is as painless and clean as possible.

I read somewhere the ballasts automatically shut off at 105 degrees and that they should be mounted on a place where there's air circulation to cool it off. Does that sound accurate? What brand of HID kits are you guys using? having a hard time deciding...

I just got the McColluch brand. They are well known and trusted. You can kits on ebay for like $50 but you get what you pay for as the saying goes.

If you don't want to drill holes/ mount new screws, there are many stock (seemingly useless) bolts and threaded holes that are just hanging around the bumper support underneath the bumper.

I mounted both of my balasts securely under the bumper just by using factory bolts that were already in place

I don't suppose you have pics of where you mounted them do you? I was going to go through the wheel well at first but after reading on here, it seems alot easier to take off the front bumper and do it that way, plus I plan on switching out the Fog lights.

just take off the bumper, once you take it off you can find a spot that looks good to you

It's not hard to take the bumper off if you know what to take off. I actually drove my car onto a ramp (the ramp you use for oil change) to make it easier. You have to remove all the plastic clips under the bumper and the splash shield. Remove the plastic clips on top of the bumper (by the radiator). There is 1 bolt at the top corner edge on each side of the bumper. I also removed a few clips on the inner fender wheel well by the bumper.

My HID is the cheapy $80 Ebay ones from China. Anything under $200 are going to be the cheapy HID from China. These kits are rebranded to hundreds of different names. The only difference is you can pay a bit more from a seller in the US and get better warranty.
