i just recently put the head back on my rwd ca18det and behind the head is the rubber coolant line for the turbo. I cannot find anywhere to connect this to.

Maybe i hooked something else up to where this line was supposed to go?

can someone let me know exactly where this line hooks up to.

thanks

There should be one coolant line that runs behind the engine and firewall that hooks to the turbo. The other turbo coolant line hooks into the coolant port which is on the turbo side of the engine.

You're not talking about the heater hoses are you?

there is a hard line behind the head that is the coolant line for the turbo.

the side that goes to the turbo is hooked up

the side that goes to the intake manifold area is not hooked up.

this is where im having trouble finding what to hook it up to

that's easy.

The coolant line that tee's into the lower radiator hose has a L-shaped pipe come off it. This is the water feed to the turbo.

It's possible that you've removed the heater hose pipe (5/8 inch diameter) which bolts onto the plenum. Without that, I could see it might be hard to find where it connects to. If you are using a CA18DE, it won't have this line off the heater hose pipe that sits under the intake plenum.

It T's into your heater core feed under the intake mani. Coolant flows from thermostat area, under mani through that 5/8's pipe, and off that pipe theres a small hose that routes coolant through the cap on the back of the intake mani (keeps PCV valve from freezing in winter) then from there to your turbo water feed hardline on the back of the head.

that make sense?

Here is how i have it setup now. You can see the coolant line just sitting there not hooked up to anything. and i have a feeling it goes to where the hose marked with the green x is currently hooked up.

am i right?

but if the turbo line goes to there, then where do i hookup the line coming from the top of the manifold to?

Ok, this made sense to me, however i just didnt see the hookup for the part that goes to the coolant line for the turbo. Once i filled everything up with coolant, it started spewing coolant from the part that i needed to hoook it up to, and i found it. It was really really hard to see it though and was hiding from me. Haha.

thanks for everyones help on this one. oh yeah and i drove the car around the block and everything seems fine, but it feels al ittle on the slow side, so im going to check the timing tonight and replace the stock fuel pump with a walbro and that should fix that.

aright man, now I need your help.

so that 5/8's pipe under the intake, is that coolant feed or return. In any event, coolant flows through that, then through a formed rubber hose that makes its way to the heater core correct....the top port?? So then where does the return go?? There is a hard pipe on the back of the head, is this where the return flows to, but then where from there??

bit confused here

nevermind, I see where it goes now...under the intake mani, back to the block.
