I'm picking up my M45 tomorrow and I want to get an updated DVD for the navigation system. Is the only option to buy from Zenrin for $190 or are there other avenues?

Check EBAY. I bought version 6.5 from an individual for $50 plus shipping on there. That isn't the newest version but was a lot more updated than the 6.2 version my M45 came with. Make sure whatever you buy that it comes with the programming cdrom.

Unfortunately not since mine's an 04.

Here's a 6.5 on craigslist. It's been on there for a while. Make him an offer. It's not worth $100.

Check ebay too.

Tman85What is the programming disk? Is this separate from the DVD Map disk?

Ver 6.7 is releasing online from their website for order on the 15th.

I would probably advise you to go ahead and get the updated DVD instead of an older one.

The 7.4 version is now available for ordering and will be released for distribution on 10/15/08. Zenrin was bought out by NavTeq. Cost is $190.00 plus shipping and tax online. Far cheaper than the dealer.

7.4 is not for an 04 M45.

6.7 is.

That is correct, my bad. The M35 is version 7.4. Same price, same place, same release date.

04 M45 is version 6.7. You can't screw up though as long as you choose the correct make, model and year on the menu.

For those who need 7.4, these things eventually turn up on eBay. If somebody buys 7.4 and is not satisfied with it, that person may sell it. Presumably, it's because there are not enough new features. There's no other reason a person would get rid of a disk after having it for a brief amount of time.

Regardless of the seller's motivation, the buyer's concern should be that it's a legitimate factory disk. If you buy it from NavTeq, the risk you take is finding out that it's not worth it. It's less of a risk if you buy it on eBay, since you can sell it there for virtually the same price if you don't like it. If you buy it new, you are risking about $25 that you would lose if you sell it. But if you like it, you haven't lost anything either way.

Stay away from anybody selling copies of the disk or offering to share the price by doing so. Copying the disk is illegal and not worth it.
