Hi, the compression tester I have isn't long enough to thread into my spark plug holes...anyone know where I could get a compression tester that is long enough to measure the compression for a KA24DE? How much do they go for? Does anyone know if autozone or pepboys, etc, rents these tools out?

Thanx...

Yes. Just be careful, I don't think it was bad equipment, but we go it misthreaded in a friend motor in and we had to cut the hose and use a ratchet to get it out, because twisting it like normal didn't give us engouh torque on it. But yeah, get gloves too if you dont have em. Engines are hot like whoa.

I got mine from Advanced Auto Parts.. it works fine and has an extended hose so I can test my compression easily.

I'm not sure how far away you can find Advanced Autos but they are far better than Autozone in my opinion.. at least around here in Ohio

Yeah, i kinda hate all those style stores...they're inundated with ricers and have really rude employees, as far as I'm concerned. I tried advanced first...they had none, and said autozone rented them...autozone DOESN'T (at least not at the place I went to) so I got a really nice "kit" for $40, I figure I can use it on any car in the future...Btw, my compression numbers were: 175, 180, 180, 185 psi...Not bad for a boosted 94k mile motor!

I bought my compression testor from AutoZone for about $15, I think. It works just fine except for the fact that I dropped it as soon as I opened it and now the calibration is off slightly. Still reads accurately for testing, however.
