hi, i just lost a set of my keys today :[ . I was driving out of mcdonalds with my bud in the passenger seat and i guess my keys fell in the bag while we were throwing out everything. I was able to drive the car home and I still have this one set, but I was wondering where i could get an extra key? My dealership is an hour away so I wanted to try and see if I could just get a spare actual key at lowes or home depot. does anyone know if this would just open the doors or actually turn the car on?

What year is you Altima? If you have a keyless entry and push button start there are a few places on the net were you could get them, but you will have to take the car and key to the dealer to get it programmed to your car.

If you need a replacement intelligent key, only the dealer can match a new one to the car. They are generally less expensive on ebay than from a dealer, but be sure to buy from a reputable source. Then take all intelligent keys to the dealer at the same time for programming.

OP, A dummy key, like a key that you would get at lowe's would only help you if you lock the keys in the car, which with the I-key system, the doors are not supposed to lock if the key is in the car. Although I have seen it happen. I would suggest buying the keys from a reputable source, or the dealer. I work in the parts dep. at a Nissan Dealer, and the Key and the Remote are about $50.00. Part #s are key:h0564-eg010 $23.08, and the remote is 285e3-ja02a $30.00. Then the service department has to program both parts to the car along with reprogramming the original set in order for them to start the car.
