i don't even have the engine yet but hey i can dream right? what do i need to do to raise the red line near 10,000 rpm or 9,500 for that matter? solid lifters, cams? hmmm cause when i get the engine i want the red line to be that hight so i can add to the power band later on

I hope you don't intend on having this car be very streetable with that kind of redline. You're going to need to modify the head to fit long duration, high lift cams, you'll need solid lifters, stiffer valve springs, and probably some lightweight retainers, and maybe bronze valve guides as well. A full port and polish is probably going to be needed at the power levels you're talking, and a custom plenum as well. You will want to also install forged pistons and rods. You will probably want a lightweight flywheel/clutch combo, maybe a Geiken. You will then need to have the reciprocating assembly balanced to the RPM range that you're looking at. Then you will need to have a custom turbo manifold built so that you can mount a big T61 turbo on there and run about 30lbs of boost.

This had better be a dyno queen or a drag car....

It all depends on what kind ofmoney you're willing to throw at such an engine. If you're not willing to spend at least $5000 on building such an engine, change your goals a tad bit. It's not cheap and revving the engine that high is more of personal satisfaction than actually a huge performance upgrade. Worry about getting the right performance parts to get you started and remember the old saying "You must crawl before you walk" .

you might wanna throw in a dry sump oil system while you're at it.

Hey dee just the person i wanted to contact... how does your business work? do you sell good condition motors or you do a basic rebuild and sell them? cause I'm interested.. not at this moment but soon. ive seen 400 whp ka-t videos and stuff and im sick of V-8 and 350Z's revving at me and i cant do piss about it.. so pretty much if its gonna cost that much to get a 9000+ rpm redline im just gonna settle with a clean ca18 with cams and prolly a gt28.. goal is 300-350 RWHP. i found a place that tunes and has a dyno. well yea i just wanted to have a small motor and still be pretty quick. but yea that all really what i would like. just enough to turn heads and hear the wastegate. i never had a boosted car before. so i want this to be my first one. and keep it for a long time. no not for drifting but to have a nice ride to be proud of. *sigh* now back to reality. P.s what would be the ideal turbo to have full boost by lest say...3800-4200 rpm? making gobs of power? cause when i cruse i wanna stay out of boost to have good gas mileage. then you know power when needed is good thx for reading guys.. love ya's

Dee doesn't own the business, he has a friend that is able to get the motors and Dee just checks them out for the members who are after a motor.

You horsepower goals shouldn't be too hard to achieve, but the motor must be built in the correct manner. The stock fueling system will need upgraded, you'll need a larger MAFS, ECU re-tune, intake, exhaust, intercooler, and turbo. For those power levels I would probably consider a T3/T4 hybrid. It could probably be done with one of the new GT series turbo's but those are quite expensive and aren't rebuildable.

Do you plan on doing this work yourself or paying someone to do it?

If you're doing it yourself, you need to get yourself acquainted with the physics and chemistry behind internal combustion engines. If you think you can just buy an S13, slap a CA in it, bolt on some stuff, and make 350HP, you're sorely mistaken.

If you're planning on paying to have the work done, be prepared for the extra cost involved as those of us that know how to do this stuff, don't generally give our services/knowledge away.

I'm not trying to deter you or demean your intelligent, it's just that you seem a bit young and I hate to see ANOTHER person like yourself come on this forum excited about the CA and it's potential and then drop the project in 3 or 4 months because it was much more difficult or expensive than they had anticipated.

There is nothing that saddens me more than a failed project...

why do you need a 9-10 thounsand redline? why not build it for a very good power band with the right turbo, insted of worrying about revving the hell out of it?

If you must have a built engine, I can do that for you. If you want an already built CA powered 240 with power in excess of 350 daily whp, I'll have one for sale in the next couple of months. But with things like that, I'll admit, it's not cheap and my work and attention to detail as well as the manner I warrant my work is second to none.

It all boils down to $$$$s, man. How much are you willing to dump and what are your power goals. You give me a power goal and I'll build a car/engine to exceed that goal, but again, it will be at my discretion on what parts I use. That's the way most builders are, they use what they know works. So again, don't worry about the rpms being so high, but more concerned with your performance down low. Reliability is key and you'll need competent component as well as tuning to make sure your money doesn't go flying out the side of your block. If you need to map a path, myself or someone here can definitely point you in the right direction as float already started it for you. You can do it right the first time or be like a lot of these guys who sell their stuff because of failure (waste of cash IMHO). But hey, some people have cash to give away...............

I don't want you to think that I was demeaning you in any way. I'm a whopping 25yrs old, but I can remember being 20, and at least in my case, I was very impatient about my car and my goals.

You guys both need to sit your similac drinkin' butts down somewhere with your (I'm a whopping 20 something years old) garbage . But seriously Reno, float has come a long way in this business and it would be wise to take heed to some of the stuff he speaks of. As for myself, I've been around this garbage before you had pubic hairs, so what you can't get out of him, I'll fill in the blanks.

I hate being young sometimes. True I'd say I know a fair amount more than the average person my age, but man you guys are crazy. I only hope to be as knowledgable in cars one day as you guys are right now. *looks up with stars in eyes*. Seriously though Reno, you better have the time and money to build a CA, cause I've deffinatly spent nearly ever dollar I've come accross in the past 2 years on my CA and it still isn't finished (partially cause I'm lazy). Woot for $7.00 an hour as an apprentice technician. Hope all goes well with your project though, may the force be with you.

Wow, I really can't stop typing when I'm bored at 11:30 at night. I need some friends....
