Well, finding a junked S12 to source the bellhousing from would be pretty hard. But If you scour your area's junkyards, you might be able to comeu p with something.

The CA18ET transmission is a bit shorter than the DET's. The bellhousing should work, IIRC.

Both, as long as the S12 (200SX) has the CA18ET (84-86) or CA20E (84-88) motor.Later model S12's have the same trans as the 240SX, though if you use the whole transmission you will have to have the drive shaft customized. But that's why you use just the bellhousing from the S12 and the KA's trans.

thanks you guys are so helpful last thing, will all 200sx's 84-88 w/ 5speeds work or were some fwd or have a different motor? Basically, was every 200sx 1984-1988 built with either a ca18de or ca20e?

All 200SX's from 84 to 88 are RWD, they came in both automatic and 5-speed manual. The motors the US got in those are the CA18ET, CA20E, and VG30E (though the CA18ET was discontinued after 86).

Any 200SX newer than that (in the USA anyway) is the B14 Sentra based 200SX, which is of course FWD. They look very different, and are easily recognizable.

dropped by the junkyard today, found 2 200sx's w/ manual transmission and 2.0liter motors so im guess those are the ca20's. Here's a pic of one of there transmissions/bellhousings. does this look like what i need? At first i thought the red circled part is where the bellhousing meets the transmission but now im not so sure, if someone would car to explain where the bellhousing is thatd be great.

Yes, just like I said on AIM, that IS where it connects.

chris is correct. that's where you have to disconnect the transmission from the bellhousing. You need everything in front of that point. Just grab the whole transmission off the car and disassemble it elsewhere.
