well i heard http://www.EnjukuRacing.com was a really good place to get a motor, but is the price really worth it, on other sites i see sr20's for $1,850 for everything, and on this site its $3000 for a blacktop sr20...

You get what you pay for. There are several sponsors that sell quality motorsets and clips. I paid 2,600 for my redtop, but ended up with a motor that the shop had picked up for one of the owners. He decided to go with a RB26 after they bought it though, so I'm getting the redtop originally meant for him. They already had it so they are making a little extra by not having to order one and pay shipping for it plus they get rid of some inventory that's just taking up space (they charge 2600 period for a redtop) and I get a motor one of the owners (who does work on the cars aka not a desk guy) picked for himself . It's a win/win situation.

I got lucky, I got my redtop motorset with some extras from venus auto for $2200 shipped. Everyone in town who's gotten one from there has had pretty good luck. But if you don't want any doubts phase2motortrend is a good way to go

haha yeah the term "you get what you pay for" seems to apply heavily..

but then again you could always get lucky buying a $2200 sr, but then again.. most likely scammed.. but that second site that offers the motor for $1,850 plus $400 shipping a 30 day start up warranty.. so im not really sure, they seem trusty.. hehe

Toronto JDM is really close to me. I have been by a couple of times and everything is in good order. They are good guys and have accomodated my mindless wandering and questions. The only downside about ordering it for you would be the extra time and distance it would have to spend in shipping since it is coming from Canada. Oregon is on the west coast right? It may be better to find something more local for this reason. That way if you have any problems you can always go in person to the company, and not have to send parts back and forth across the continent.

There are occasional "steals" but for the most part it is you get what you pay for. The biggest thing to look for is support from a company after you get your product. Many times you will have engines with missing, broken or incorrect pieces. Then when you try to contact the company they ignore you or arent too helpful. The "reputable" companies have a reputation to maintain so they are generally more willing to help out later on.

I once won an S14 front clip on ebay for 1800 and picked it up myself. But I went to look at it first and note its condition. Turned out to be a great condition engine.

I used to live in Seattle, WA. I bought my clip in Olympia, keep an eye out for deals over there.
