Has anyone ever used on of theses? It is a radiator fan that is bolted on to your clutch. So, instead of using an electric fan to cool your radiator, this fan is always turning at the same rate as the clutch. Some people gripe that it robs horsepower, but I'm not concerned about that. I need to worry about keeping things cool. My electric fan isn't working, and I'm thinking this clutch fan would be a much simpler fix than trying to debug what's wrong with the electric fan.

Has anyone ever used one? Where did you get it from? I tried looking on ebay and Advance Auto Parts, but neither really seems to have the right thing. I keep getting hits for fan clutches. Same thing when I googled it. I did get good Google images of it, so I know the exist! it just might be tricky to space it so the fan has some space from the engine.

There are only 3 types of fans I know of. 2 which are practical. 1-electric 2-mechanical (fan clutch and fan) and hydraulic (driven usually by pump and trans or power steering fluid. id recommend rather fixing your electric fans or putting the stock mechanical fan back on. Electric fans are most practical and efficient. No point of trying to reinvent the wheel.

I think the mechanical fan you're talking about might be the same thing I'm thinking of. I just see the electric fan on there now. How does the mechanical fan work? Or the two types of them?

The normally stock fan has a sintrifical clutch that when the rpms increase the clutch engages harder sponging the fan faster. The hydrologic setup I've only seen on some lexus and mercedes and the fan is driven by fluid forcing the fan in one direction. Those are extremely effective but to adapt to a 240 would be a pita. The stock fan clutch can be found at most of your local parts stores and originally is bolted to the end of the water pump.

Yes, stock mechanical fan is also called the clutch fan.
