The air bag control module under the center arm rest in my car has gone out and the dealer wants $850 for a new one ! Wrong !

Greenleaf did a national search for me and came up with nothing ( no suprise given the low production numbers for the car ).

Any suggestions on where I can find one of these used ?

Thanks

yeah too rare and too new of a car to be salvaged. If the nation wide search didn't show anything........... good luck

question: can you live without the module and is the dash flashing errors?

The question is will your insurance cover you and passenger for medical expenses if you refuse to have air bags repaired. Willful negligence in operating vehicle?

Most policies give a discount for air bags.

How did you cause module to fail? The most reliable component in entire vehicle.................Drill or spill? Never seen or heard of any other failure cause other than trying to change steering wheel.

I wonder if the air-bag (electronics, modules, bag, etc.) is likely to be covered under any Federally-mandated extra warranties! Like the seat belts are.

Hmmm ... might be worth exploring.

No one drinks in my car and I have not drilled anythng into the car.

The passenger airbag curtain sensor failed a year ago and they replaced that module. Come to find out when I took it in for this new issue ( warning on LCD screen and airbag light in cluster flashes ) one of the tech's said they should have replaced both modules ( curtain and central one under arm rest ) at the same time.

After a lot of arguing and talking to Infiniti corporate they said they would not replace the other module because one of the techs said it should have been last time with the curtain module. They said they would discount the part but by that point I was out the door pissed off.

Sad thing is my 2003 just went out of warranty based on in service date because my miles are so low.

Anyone else have suggestions for finding salvaged parts ? How about a Jap spec one ? Are they the same ?

You need to calmly continue your discussion with Nissan/Infiniti Corporate. Write registered letters to the legal department. The R letter and a series of them spaced every 2 weeks shows the young lawyers that you just might be crazy enough to waste money on Counsel and try something in small claims court. They might just authorize the repair to get rid of you .

How many days, hours after waranty are you from the exact moment the light came on? Preexisting condition delay?

The earlier failure and parts replacement in same system is at least in your favor.

Good luck.
