I tried a search, but couldn't find anything definitive.

Here's the quirk, I like the completeness of a front clip, and the fact that you can see everything wired up, but i don't want (read: I don't have quite THAT much money:pface) to make the extensive mods to convert my S14 to AWD.

So what I guess I'm really asking is, where can I find an rb26 engine (w/out the transmission) and an rb25 transmission?

One more question, what's the deal with the steering linkage clearance? I've heard that the turbos contact from some, but others say it fits fine...

thanks for any help,kyle

I've got an RB26DETT with an RB25DET transmission I'm willing to sell, also it has a custom billet oil pan :D just motor and transmission nothign else though you'd need an ECU and harness.

and the others are wrong, the steering column goes right were the twin turbo set up would be and so you have to convert to a big single or something right off the bat. or extensive unappropriate modification has to be done.

thanks for the link, yamaoni. and yes, I am new to this, I took delivery of my S14 last thurs. I'm used to working on an Rx-7 (I rebuilt the engine in my '88 GXL, and have done all the mods to my dad's '93 R1).

To keep the costs within reason initially, I was hoping to be able to use the stock turbos... What can be done to make them fit? I've heard about dremeling something, but it wasn't too specific.

thanks,kyle

The dremeling you talking about isn't on the RB26, i think its the RB20 but i'm not sure. Dremeling just won't cut it with the RB26, its simply in the way. The easiest route, and the one i'll be taking, would be to convert to RHD(Right Hand Drive) since this would clear up any clearance issues. You can use the stock twin turbos and keep LHD but i wouldn't be able to tell you all the custom work involved...

Oh and yes, afterdark to my knowledge is the only company that sells the full motor set with everything needed to drop it in your 240, ie oil pan, transmission, mounts, x-member...

WRONG! Our kit does allow you to keep the twins on. You have to move some lines over but everything does fit with our mount kit. One of our customers already has it in his car. I'll be dropping in a RB26DETT into a S14 today and keeping both turbos. I'll take pictures tonight and post them so that you can see that it does fit......

kkekeisen, we also sell everything you need to put in the RB26DETT into your 240sx. http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com

Grumpy, I think you guys need to re-build your web site :p, hacking is definitely not cool...

So since, there is no website, what is it that you guys make that allows the engine to fit, and what does it cost?

Also, at what pressure ratio do the stock turbos go out of their maximum effiency range? Does anyone have any real life experience about what boost the turbos can sustain for a decent period of time (or until I save up enough for a single turbo :D)

thanks,kyle
