Hello all,

I’ve looked all around the Internet for Active suspension fluid Type. I have a 1991 Nissan president (Q 45). I’ve checked every forum and emailed the user Texas oil because of a 15 year old post.

If the fluid isn’t available, does anybody know any alternatives?

Of course!
CHF-11s is readily available. And it's even green, just doesn't have the fluorescent dye properties. I have started 'cutting it in' on my actives.
There are some Mercedes guys that use it in their "active" systems (which incidentally have the same type of tandem power steering/active pump arrangement.

Wait, so power steering fluid will work!?!?
Just as good?

I was running Dexron VI transmission fluid for a few years and everything was fine as well.

My active suspension light came on. I put a quart of hydraulic fluid in there. The light still on. I don’t even know who I can take it to. Any help would be great.

is your fluid level on the dipstick when engine running, warm?
if so, then adding more fluid is probably not going to turn the light off.
Next would be to run the self check. Key on, engine off. Flip the switch N-->H-->N-->H etc at least 10 times in less than 10 seconds leave switch in N position when done. Wait. you will see the act sus light flash a code. count the number of long blinks followed by the number of short blinks (pattern should repeat).
report back.

In the center console there is a height switch that says “N” and “H”. Turn the ignition on but engine off and with in ten seconds of doing that turn the height switch to Normal and High ten times. On the gauge cluster the active suspension light should flash. Count the number of flashes and see what they mean in the service manual.

Or buy a ECU Talk cable and use a laptop to find the code.

My guess is that that the system has air in it and the pump is sucking in air instead of fluid. So it would come up as a pressure code.

Does the car raise up when turning it on?

Does the light come on right away after turning the car on?

I only have one switch, and that’s for the parking pole. Later today I will link a YouTube video. The car comes rises up, and then you hear a clunk, then the active suspension light comes on.

It appears to drop an inch, but recover.

The President doesn’t have any height adjustment switches, center console, not cup holders.

I’ll be to make a video of the inside and suspension drop.

Somebody might have just taken the switch out. I would take apart the center console and look for a connector. I wish I had a spare switch to send you but I don’t.

If your really crafty look at the wiring g diagram and just jump the wires or get the ecu talk cable.

FCP Euro will sell you the CHF-11S (BMW PS Fluid) with a lifetime warranty when you return the old expired fluid. I do not know how they cover leaks.
