Does anyone know where I can find a digital instrument cluster with HUD for my '89 240sx? Mine is all sorts of messed up. I can't find one anywhere! I tried calling nissan, and you have to buy each gauge independently, ha ha ha. its like $425 just for the tach. F that! Maybe I'll end up just buying aftermarket gauges and re-doing the whole freggin' thing. But if anyone knows of some secret place to find this elusive creature, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

I've tried salvage yards, ebay, craigslist, calling friends who work in garages....

When I swapped mine, there was a plenty out there, but now it's hard to find. Just get the analog cluster and harness, so you have a working cluster for now and search patiently. You will find one eventually.

Yeah, thanks. The guy I bought the car from had an analog cluster sitting in the dash, but apparently the harness on it doesn't match. Do you know if there is a way to tell what vehicle it came off of, so I can buy some kind of harness adapter(ebay I assume?)? I don't want to splice the harness that connects to the car.

did you remove the HUD's sub harness? I have swapped to analog in one of my 89's with no modification other then the removal of the HUD's sub harness. :chuckle:

I'll have to get it back out and have a good look at the harness next chance I get.
Ekinchheng, I'll email you when I get home from work. I think I'll still want it even if it doesn't work. Mine is missing some screening (turn signals and digital display) and things like that, so I could at least use parts off it. Thanks.
I was able to find some good posts about debugging the digital display. So, I would hope, that if I have two of them, I should at least be able to frankenstein them together!.... well 3 of them if you count the analog one.

you can always go gutsy, and do the nx1600 cluster..

every digital 240sx gauge ive bought, (and im talking about like 15 of them) have ALL had defective speedometers, to the point of no repair.

the nx cluster i have is Great, and has been working flawlessly since i installed it.

Yeah, if you have any pics and/or "how to" instructions, I think a few of us could benefit. Thanks.

Is it plug and play? Or do you need to re-wire or do anything else to get it to work?

the nx cluster requires an entire re-wire of the cluster harness (it detaches, so its not permanant to the main harness)

there are around 50 or so connections to make everything work. and getting the speed signal set up correctly has been a nightmare for me (it reads double)

to install you have to remove the top plate (with 3 screws). trim the upper right gauge bracing, and trim the lower gauge mounting area above the steering shaft. that was it.. installed exactly as you see it.

other than cutting a few wires, yes, it was plug and play.. all the sensors work in perfect harmony, tach signal works, speedo works (just doubled)

for the reading double, you're using the stock s13 speed sensor right? that'll make it read double sometimes,

I think it's a 36 tooth speed sensor you need for it to read right. I've been looking up on how to do this to my 240(with no luck finding a cluster so far) and remember reading something about it. i'll pm u the link if i find it again.

There was something about either the ka24e or ka24de reading right and the other one reading double so if u cant find a speed sensor from an nx one of those will work. i just gotta find the page that said which
