Does anyone know where to get some good performance brake pads for my '93 240? The only decent ones I found so far were the Hawks from TireRack, but I could not find out if these came with shims. I need brakes bad!!

You shouldn't need new shims unless you are missing them.

Whenever you re-do the brakes, it's a good idea to get a caliper hardware kit to replace the spring clips, pins, or any small anti-rattle harware. All of those small parts are subjected to a lot heat and will not perform well. It's cheap insurance. Most local parts shops will be able to get you a hardware kit. If the factory pads have shims they can be reused but it's best to replace them. Those should come in the hardware kit if needed. Don't forget to check your fluid. If it looks like tea or, even worse, coffee, change the fluid.

not good on the stock brakes. if you really need good brakes and hate the stock. Go with the easy 300zx brake upgrade. Did the front and back with the master cylender. stopping is the best for $600. not bad you can just go to napa or autozone and get some not to exspensive.

assuming you're going with this brand...I actually got my Axxis MM pads from a local shop that deals with WorldPac. Worldpac is an importer and distributor of parts for import applications. I paid a total of $68 for the front and rear. Maybe you can find a local shop that deals with them and do the same. ;) here's the website: www.worldpac.com good luck!

IMO, one of the best places to get a performance pad is http://www.carbotech.com. Ask about the Carbotech Panther +, a little pricey but an excellant pad.

600 may be true for an s14, end even then i doubt the clipers, rotors, and lines will run under 600. sor an s13, it'll be even more. A more ealistic number is about 1200.-chet

Or you could go w/ PDM and pay $950... :ylsuperhttp://www.pdm-racing.com/products/brakesz32.html

They come with KVR carbon-kevlar pads, KVR crossdrilled rotors drilled to 4-lug, brake lines, factory new 4-piston calipers and all the "trimmings". Good stuff! :)
