Looking for some cheap R134a freon...any ideas where you can buy it cheap online? It's 9-10 bucks a can from the parts stores.

Unless you have a license to buy it, the parts store stuff is all you can get. Your system only holds about 4 cans total. Be glad you are not in need of R12.

I can't believe you guys can buy AC gas off the shelf in the US.Touching the AC system yourself in AU is SOOO illegal!Can only be re-gassed by an authorised professional.And there are no off the shelf cans/bottles....How do you fill it yourself?What do these containers look like?I am curious as to how you can do this job yourself at home.

Here is the recharge kit Advance Auto has on the shelf. It sells for $15 US

Since it is not an HFC or HCFC, it can be sold in small quantities. R12 is no longer available to the public.
