OK after some Google research, I now know The QX4 uses Nissan J-Whatevertheycallit fluid.

What is a good online source for the fluid and a filter. I use http://www.rockauto.com for parts for my explorer but it looks like they don't supply fluids.

Thanks in advance, David

I got an email from: http://www.EverythingNissan.com AND http://www.InfinitiPartsUSA.com

They said that I could use Dextron Transmission fluid. Is this true? Is Dextron what is in the transmission now from the factory?

I would really like to know before I even attempt to change the fluid.

The Dexron will work just fine....the other stuff, Mercon, is for F**ds and the the like. I just change mine at 60k and it needed it. New filter too. Along with a bottle of Trans Gard....suppose to be good for lock-up converters. The transmission semms to shift a bit firmer (less slip) too. I also changed the front and rear diff oil as well as the transfer case (Dexron) and the coolant. Hope this helps!
