Where to buy high output alternators.

Anyone know a good site to pick up a high output alternator for the 3rd gen maxima? So far all ive found is a 220amp for $300..Is that good?

The question that first comes to mind is.......what do you need a high output alt. for? If for a stereo, how big is your amp? Im running a 3000 watt amp (probably like 2500) on the stock alt. I havent had a problem out of the alt. in 3 years. I dont listen to the subs much anymore (hearing crapped out), but when I did I had them loud for a long periods of time

yeah it will be for a system. My amp is only 400watts but i get a very noticeable amount of dimming. I tried "the big 3" upgrade first with no luck as well as a capacitor. The cap helped for the most part but not completely. Still have a cheap valucraft battery from autozone to, you think i should get a better battery first before i consider an alternator?

I would say so, you could also take your alt. off and get them to test it. It may not be charging the battery well
