My I30 only came with one key, so I would really like to get a spare master key. Problem is my local dealer wants $80-something for the blank plus $40 to cut and program it. Why are these things so expensive? That's about what one of my friends paid for a new remote key for her Mercedes! Is there anywhere I can get an OEM key blank (not the cheap eBay crap) for $50 or less?

the dealer is your best bet. even going to the dealership you have to have title or registration to prove the car is yours. get owned

You can always try one of NICO's dealer sponsor. Call Everything Nissan/Infiniti and talk to Joe (888-216-5328). Be sure you tell him you're a NICO member.

Any idea on price? I'm in the same situation and need to get some spare keys. How would I work this. Buy the blanks from Joe and take them into the dealer and have him program both my keys. I guess Joe could check the VIN to make sure it will match my existing key. I also have the number of a guy that has all the equipment to do the programming so I may go with that option as well.

I just bought a key off ebay for $16 with shipping. The dealer wanted $106 for just the key! It cost me just under $60 to have it cut and programmed. It seems to be working fine just like any other key.
