I don't think your waiting will be in vain, but it will be longer than if you were driving an xB, Fit, or even a Yaris. The Versa isn't considered a serious "tuner" car. Now that the Sentra is selling, things for the engine may arrive sooner (as long as they target the MR20DE and not the QR25) but don't hold your breath.
A muffler shop could use pre-bent pipes and piece together a header. They wouldn't have to have a mandrel bender. But you only want to use a fabricator who understands what they're doing or you many not see any performance increase.
Another option is to have the stock manifold port matched and smoothed. The process forces an abrasive material through the inside of the exhaust manifold. I forget the company that does this but Sports Compact Car tested a modified GSR manifold against several aftermarket headers and it produced the best torque while being down only a couple of HP. This would ensure not fitment issues.
Lastly, you could swap in the MR20 (or the crank and rods) and get an extra 20 hp.
