Where's my egr valve and how do I clean it?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hi there, I'm a newby to the Nissan world, well atleast a newby to owning one. I have done plenty of work on this car before for the previous owner but now that I own it, (go figure) it's throwing up P0400 and P1110 codes. It's a 96 Sentra GXE with 129656 on the odo. The P0400 code reads EGR Flow Malfunction and the P1110 code reads Manufacturing Control Fuel Air Metering. I can pretty much guess what the first code is saying. It means either I need to clean my EGR Valve out or replace it....but I'm not sure where it is, or how to clean it. Any help here with this issue? I'm not sure if I understand the other code. Anybody that could help please do....that'd be really awesome.

PO400 is most likely not becouse of the egr. most likely(9 times outa 10) its becouse of the BPT hose. its rubber and has hot exhoust gases goin through it so it fails often. but since your in that area anyway, wouldnt be a bad idea to clean it. some brake clean and a wire brush should do it. shouldnt take to long.

Worked on the PO400 Engine malfunction this weekend
Had to remove air cleaner, Idle air control valve, and throttle body
Marked all hoses and connections with tape and paint
Also removed one large coolant hose
The tube between the back of the upper intake plenum was 90% clogged with carbon
Had to clean up one stud ( 1.25 x 8 ) with thread chaser since previous repair had crossthreaded nut on it
I also cleaned throttle body and cleaned idle air control valve of carbon with electronic cleaner and carb cleaner
sprayed maf with electronic cleaner also
It is easier to remove the EGR valve to get to the tube stud
Have all gaskets available because the heat can tear them up
Use antisieze on most hoses and threads for reinstall and silicone dielectric for wire connectors
Air boxes are old & brittle-I got a spare from the junkyard to regluee/patch for the next repair
Next project is to replace instrument cluster
