I read all the bits of info on how to test whether the o2 is fouled. So I figured that ECU will show all the info I need whether my bad idling is due to bad o2. However got stuck on finding exactly where the ECU location is? From what I hear, it's on the passenger side, below the compartment. Okay, I tear up through the cover, and I find something that looks like ECU, however, I don't see neither LED lights nor somethin that may look like a diagnostic mode selector. Wow, i'm stuck here questioning myself whether that's actually ECU, which i'm sure it is, but if it's the right one, looks like it's stock from the factory, but where the hell do I read all the info on the trouble diagnosis, and where's the selector? From what you can see in the pic, is there's a bolt that attaches to wiring. And also, it looks like this unit is a ***** to unscrew. So, my question is whether that's ECU and if yes, then where do i find all the diagnosis LED lights, and where's the selector? Thanks in advance

Yes that is the ECU, and yes it is a b**** to unscrew.

The LED's and everything you need to access are on the back side against the firewall (how convenient right?)

Someone explains everything you need to know about reading codes in the FAQ section.

thanks, s13! It looks like the previous owner never bother to check ECU. I guess it proves how well I abuse my s13 ;o)

Just invest in a 10mm nut-driver and it will not be a pain to remove.

Well, I got the ECU unscrewed. It wasnt really hard to unscrew, it was just hard to get to those nut because of the confined spacing. But that left aside, I see now that there's no digital display to show the codes, as I thought it would be. I guess I need a special diagnositc tool to be able to see that. Or can I read off the trouble codes just by looking at the red LED light. Now, how do I know if the light shows trouble code, let's say, 25. Would I count the 25 times the light would flash? That doesn't really make sense, because I could be off just by countin that. Is there no other way to inspect the codes other than by investing in the ECU reader?BTW 2BNS13, I love that front of yours, can't really call that ugly, I wish I could just snag it on my 180sx style front, but that's out of question in CAnada, I guess.
