ebay or NICO classifieds will be your best bet for used starters. You can land a new one from Courtesy Nissan, but plan on paying through the nose for it.

zerothread?id=202517myeeS13 shows part of his how to on swapping a KA starter guts into an SR starter housing.

You can get a brand new KA SOHC stater motor and syliniod for less than 100. Why dont you just do the head change on the starter.

yea thats exactly it. if you can get a SR head, ill get you an KA starter for $50 shipped. but i mean, its definitely one of the coolest finds, and its fun replacing all the parts on the starter. just make sure to grease up the planetary gears so it lasts a little longer.

getting an sr head is almost just as hard as getting the whole sr starter. It sucks with people trying to sell them high...

I don't have pictures, and don't have any idea how many miles are on the starter because it came with my motorset, which did not include a cluster. I replaced it because I thought it was faulty, however, i just had a loose engine ground. The starter cranked strong before the engine ground got fouled, so I know it works great.

Let me know, my e-mail is nsn @ andrew.cmu.edu (no spaces), or you can contact me on AIM (my screen name is infini0n). This is an SR starter so it's a bolt up affair, you won't have to fiddle with crap or ghetto rig stuff to work right. If you really want pictures, I can charge up my digicam and snap a few for you, but really, there's not much to see -- its just a starter.

Let me know, thanks.
