Anybody know where I can get a rebuilt KA24E with a port and polish job for under $2000, for my S13? I've checked http://www.rebuiltengines.com but they don't do port and polish. I'd rebuild myself, but it's my daily driver, and I don't have the tools or the time to undertake that major of a project right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

you want to pay $2000 for a new ka with a simple port and polish? Just build up a head, and bolt it on your shortblock with new timing components. Check out realnissan.com they offer a decent racehead for about a grand (you could build the same thing yourself for under 500btw). Do some research and save lots of money.

I sell rebuilt ka24's as well as other engines here in the NW, if you were willing to pay for the shipping i could build you up a trick ka for $2000.

hmmmm, tempting, but what I need is a completely rebuilt engine ready to have the pans bolted on, valve cover, throttle assembly, and ready to bolt on to the transmission, I can only afford like one maybe 2 days down time. and pay less than $2000,oh and it needs to be ported and polished.......sorry, I just realized that I restated my first post. My KA24E is shot to poo, it still runs, but it smokes the gray stuff like none other, and the valves or lash adjusters, are ticking away, and get noisier everyday.... need a new timing kit as well. Now that I think about it, it may be cheaper to just repair it, and wait till I can buy a nice tricked ka..... what do you think?? cause I'm still confused, I want the best bang for ma buck.

oh, and I don't really want to pay 2 grand, but that's the cheapest I've found so far.......cheaper would be very very nice.

Hey just wanted to let everybody know that I found a new engine (new, as in rebuilt (all moving parts are brand new)) from Precisionengine.com for about $1,300. I ordered it today!!! yay! heh, I'm a little excited, it'll be in sometime next week. Cheapest engine yet probably the highest "stock" quality I've found yet. Thanks again everybody for their input.

oh, I forgot one thing, I get too keep my core, so, I'm going to build up it's head and bolt it on to the new engine. Which makes me ask another question, where do you suggest I get a cam, PDM? or GUDE? etc, any info would be greatly appreciated. I've heard horror stories about GUDE but anyway, that's why I asked. thanks

no problem, I've always heard good things about PDM too. Just for being a good consumer's sake, does anybody know of anyother performance cams you can get, and where?

I went to their site:

"NS-2399 NISSAN (KA24E) '89-'92 CAR !!! 1,329.95 premium 1,179.95 economy 325.00 core"

i'm guessing u got the economy one?

Did anyone do this instead of spinning the oil pump to pre-lube the engine?

"Use a pressure tank at about 40 pounds pressure to prime (pre-lube) engine as this will insure vital parts are lubricated properly to avoid a dry start. (Spinning of the oil pump to accomplish this is not recommended). If pressure tank is unavailable, use an aftermarket assembly lubricator kit for prelubing of system before initial start up (follow recommended procedures). Call for further information."
