I have a 94 Q45 and everytime it rains water seems to be soaking the rear driverside rug. When I pull off at high speeds it sounds as if the water is in the center pillar or rocker panel (I can actually hear the water gushing around). Any ideas? Are there any sunroof drain holes that might be clogged in that area? Please help....

Are you saying you can hear it in the drivers side rocker panel (right below the drivers side door)......?

I can not specifically pinpoint where the water is coming from. However, it seems to either be coming from the middle column between the front and rear door (center pillar?) or the rocker panel on the driver side. If I move fast or stop suddenly after a rain fall I can hear it gushing around.

Check all drain plugs...... There are 4 or 5 on the drivers side door (bottom)...... On the left side (facing the door from the inside of the car) there is a square one, and a round one...... Then there should be a round one (maybe square, I cant remember off hand) and then a round and a square on the right side.... If they are plugged, get some compressed air and start blowing!

Check them by opening the door, and get a glass of water and pour it on the window, so it seeps down.... Water should come out the holes.... If not, then theres your problem.....

Check your sunroof drains by opening the sunroof.... From there, you should see 2 holes on either corner..... Get some water, and pour it down there..... You should see water dripping from the botton of the car (rocker panel)......

I checked the service manual, and Im not sure where the drain hoses end at for the sunroof, but Ill check....... In the mean time (if they dont wont work), blow them out with air......

I saw a drain hose, near my antenna, when I was working on the mast. I think this is for the sunroof, but I am not sure, since I only ahve a crappy CD manual!

Sounds like elwesso is on the ball!

Yes.... There is another drain for the sunroof (its the rear drain rail, you cant test that out without partially disassembling the sunroof) and for the antenna mast....... There is a hose that comes down from the rear A pillar, and then joins into a junction with another hose (antenna mast), and then plugs into the body where it drains out...... I suppose you could try and test it by opening it just a little and pouring water in there....... I wouldnt (fear of getting water all over headliner and seats), but you could.......

I remember on my 92Q, the drain holes were clogged and water got into the sunroof motor. I had to replace the whole entire sunroof assembly. Luckily it was covered by the extended warranty.

The dealer told me that wind deflectors cause dirt and debris to accumulate and clog the drain holes. Do you have a wind deflector on your sunroof by any chance? Just wondering.
