I would like to see a photo to be 100% sure where I'm looking but I want to go view a '92 TT 300zx near me but I want to locate the VIN# on the engine because the owner can't confirm that the engine was swapped out.

I don't want to purchase this car with 170k miles on the frame thinking it was swapped out at 110k and the motor has 60k miles.

This guys story doesn't make sense now that I think about it...

He says he's owned the car for 5 years, the previous owner replaced the engine at 110k...and it's now at 170k.

He obviously doesn't realize the engine he swapped in probably had 40k-60k miles...plus the 60k he put on it....so we're looking at like 200,000 miles on this body!?!?

This is why I want to go test drive and locate the engine VIN# since he can't. He has only told me the ones on the body of the car.

THX SO MUCH

They don't have VIN's (vehicle Identification Number), but they do have the block number which indicates build date.

Like marty1mc said, there is no VIN on the VG30DE (or any Nissan motor I can think of off the top of my head). And your post up the contains a math fail, if he swapped in a motor with 60k onto a body with 110k, then drove 60k miles, the body would have 170k and the motor would have 120k. I'd be wary of this car though, that's a lot of wear on a car.
