Hey..where is the TAC Module on a '99 Q? and please don't say to look it up in a FSM..some off us just don't have one yet....if we had one,we wouldn't ask for help! I am narrowing down what the dealership said is wrong with my Q......and didn't want to pay over $200 in labor to change it...I will buy a new/good used one....

Touche,Little Grasshopper...the old boomer knows more than young Maxnix???? it is some sort of Throttle Actuator Control on the motor...all I ever wanted to now is where it is and what is does? and is it critical?-the shop said it is "burned" out and this module controls the dash ABS/SLIP/TCS lights and the cruise control........I don't know what to believe as I've now taken this '99 Q to 3 different dealerships.....all they want to do is to read a glorified volt meter and look for a code....BS! use common sense and try to get greasy and get involved to find a real problem....these new techs think a piece of electrified plastic can diagnose all problems..not so....I 'd appreciate a good old fashioned mechanic methodically going through his mental rolodex to come up with the possible problem by simply excluding what is working or not. And parts these days are geared for planned obsolescience-not to work for too long. That's just my opinion...and until someone who understands my question /dilemma comes along with a helpful answer,I will continue to believe we pay too much for the glistening chariots.

The little wax container? I'll have to research. Never has occurred before.

What you need is a Senior Infiniti Technician who understands the mechanics, the electronics and the diagnostic procedures. Sounds like you have only been served by the minor leagues.

Has Michael in Austin looked at it? Don't reall know him that well, but he may be your only choice unless one of the Houston dealerships has a Senior Tech.

OK, BR-38 in the 2000 FSM. Don't know why it would fail unless you have a leak or someone is missing with it.

Did they remove it to diagnose it? Should be easy to change out. Did they test teh alternator under load? ABS sensors?

I think you need to visit the major leagues.

the tech said he used a new one from stock and tested it with my car and it turned off all the dash lights, etc. I didn't see this done-but the service manager told me so.....they never checked the Alt under load nor did they check the ABS sensors...I think every where i go to an Infiniti Dealer is the major leagues! just don't know what else to to-will try to buy a ATC module from NIco guys or from Ebay and cross my fingers....suggestions?

No, maost are minor lieagues. Lots of attrition of techs in the 1997-2001 deswperation years. Even fewer newer ones famliar with the even slower selling F50.

If you are convinced, try:

I am not convinced.
