does anybody know where this is? i've determined to get serious about getting my cruise control fixed, and by the process of elimination, it's either this or the control unit. dealer consult turned up nothing, and i've checked that everything else works--the switches, the pump/actuator, the relay... anyway, thanks in advance. randy

Are you referring to the wheel speed sensor because if you are front is located on right front passenger side brake caliper/ assembly.

thanks, but i don't think that's it. there is no picture of it in-location in the manual, just a picture of it already out, but it does say to remove it from the 'transaxle.' i'm not sure what part the fsm is referring to as transaxle here....

I've got a 94, it may or may not be the same, but on page EL-240 of the FSM it shows the vehicle speed sensor maybe accessible between the front seats? Anyway, it's listed as a passenger compartment electrical unit. Look for Location of Electrical Units in the EL section of the FSM and look at the drawings there. Good luck.

I really don't know if this will help you to solve your problem, but if you follow the posts under my name, you'll find the location of the speed sensor. And, by the way, replacing the speed sensor took care of my problem.

By the symptoms that you described, it appears that it's somethingelse going on, not the speed sensor in the transmission.

Good luck!

PS: I hope the link works.

thanks cgb. i'm comparing your picture in the ref'd thread to the el-106 page in my 93 book, and that is most definitely it. thanks. although now i've got my eye on the cc control unit, as other than the cc, everything else works fine. i guess we'll see. thanks again. randy

"Are you referring to the wheel speed sensor because if you are front is located on right front passenger side brake caliper/ assembly."

Not on a Q45 you are confusing ABS reluctance ring/sensor

Vehicle speed is derived from transmission rear speed sensor, the frequency is translated via IC in speedometer housing to a voltage [0-5volt DC] which is distributed to PS, speedometer, ECU, TCU, ABS computer, Air bag computer, and CC-computer.

Roughly 0.03 volts per mph.
