Im not sure but that looks like some sort of thermo swith for an electric fan. Ofcourse I could be wrong. Mine is on the top radiator hose and is wired from there to the fan to under the batery tray iirc. Peace

You don't need it. Temp sensor for radiator fan.

Indeed. No CA ever had anything like that is the stock harness.

you can reuse it to turn on your fans though! I'm going to the junkyard to get one for that purpose for mine.

you dont use it on a ca.it was a second temp sensor for the ka.but you can use it for efans our you can hook it up to a temp gauge.but you will have to oreder a adapter for it.

hks, greedy, blitz, and alot of other companys make that piece you have in your pic.

Its the temp sensor for your temp gauge inside the car, KAs didnt offer electric fans.

Yes they did. If your 240sx had A/C, you had a seperate electric fan used to aid cooling of the evaporator coils located behind the radiator. It was also needed for the added strain on the stock motor. You can wire the stock electric fan up for manual operation or by a relay of some sort.

the auxiliary fans are located in the metal mesh in front of the radiator if memory serves.. but anyway, yeah they did have them, they were small.. not something I'd want to depend on to cool the entire car in stop and go traffic during summer though.

the coolant temperature sensor for the gauge cluster is located near the throttle body.

really, I thought that one was for the coolant temp for the ecu, So if I install a aftermarket gauge I should go into the sensor on the throttle body? I'm talking about on a SR20DET not the ka. Because my temperature gauge is currently installed on the lower hose and it seems to cool down really fast when running down the highway, I mean rediculously fast if its cold out it'll go from 180 to 110 in like 20 seconds, and I know it cant be right.

if you put a new sensor in its place, thats ok, but you're not measuring the coolant in the engine, but the coolant exiting the rad - not ideal as if say your tstat clogs you may never know.

if you just wired to the existing sensor, thats a thermoswitch, and it closes the connection (makes a circuit) when temp raises about 198F and opens (cuts circuit) when it drops below 188F - so obviously thats useless for a gauge.

But perfect for a electric fan! (like we were just talking about... )

Whats all this "they" stuff about? S13's only have one electric fan. Dont confuse the poor boy... But I have to agree. Definately NOT a replacement for your clutch fan (in stock form, at least).
