The following assumes that your '02 is the same as my '01. If at any point, you don't get the expected results, stop and post.
- The fog lights only work if the headlights (specifically the US passenger's side headlight) is on AND your are in low beams.
- Locate the front fog lamp relay. It's in Relay box 1, which is in the engine compartment, on the US driver's side, just outboard
of the strut top. The front fog lamp relay is closest to the front, in the row closest to the center line of the truck. Pull the relay.
- Turn on the headlights and fog lights.
- The relay connectors are laid out in a T shape. Looking at the socket, the connector at the base of the T is #3, next to that is #5,
and the two on the top of the T are #1 and #2. I THINK (FSM is a little unclear) that the one on the right side of the top of the T
is #2 and the one on the left #1. I MIGHT have #1 and #2 switched. Get your DVM.
- This one is done on the relay. Measure the resistance between #1 and #2. It should be less than 1000 Ohms.
- The rest are done on the relay socket.
- Measure the voltage between #3 and ground. It should be battery voltage. This is measuring the power for the fog light bulbs.
- Measure the resistance between #5 and ground. It should be above zero, but less than 100 Ohms. This is measuring the resistance
through the fog light bulbs.
- Turn on the headlights. Make sure the US passenger's side headlight is on. Measure the voltage between #2 and ground. It should
be battery voltage (12ish V) If it's zeroish, measure the voltage between #1 and ground. If #1 is battery voltage, I got #1 and #2
switched and report back.
- Turn on the fog lights. Set the headlights to low beam and on. Measure the resistance between #1 and ground. It should be
way less than 20 Ohms.
