Where is the flasher?

For the life of me, I cannot find the turn signal flasher module on my 1996 240SX SE. The Nissan technical manual does a really lousy job of describing where things are. From some other posts, it appears to be around the steering column (where these things usually are), but I can't find anything that looks like the replacement part I have. Does anyone have some advice?

If it is like S13 it is directly above the column way down by the pedals, and it is 100% invisible when looking up from the floor. Reach up and feel around until you find a box with plug on one end. S13 was securely attached using the metal slip on tab common to many Nissan connectors.
