Hi, I have 96' I30 which is 137k on it.To get better gas mileage I would like to clean the EGR valve. The IACV was already done. Where is the valve? and How to clean the valve up? Is the same way as clean the IACV?

Thanks.

EGR Valve = Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve.

When the valve is open, it recirculates exhaust back into the engine. This process reuses exhaust and helps to prevent the formation of harmful emissions such as nitrogen. If the EGR gets clogged, this means there is a build up of nitrogen oxide in the valve which can cause the car to have a rough idle, bad gas mileage, and even a sense of hesitation when accellerating. (Also, in most cars, the EGR is opened/closed by vacuum power, so there's also a possibility that a hose is kinked or clogged.)

In other words, you'll know something is wrong when the valve is stuck or clogged.
