where is the cheapest place to get a ca18det from?

$1100 shipped is even a little on the low side... I would be careful with motors that cheap or cheaper. Why not throw the extra few hundred down beforehand so you're not fixing crap afterwards? Honestly, buying your motor is not the place to cheap out, unless you plan on rebuilding it from the get-go.

Just save and get a front clip. Then you get everythig you need

A front clip doesn't guarantee you a solid motor nor transmission. Completed motorsets go for around $1200-$1600 depending where you buy them from and a few other things involved.
