I looked up in the index of service manual. I don't see the term carburetor listed. How do i identify the part and how do I clean it? Thanks for your help.

for the simple reason that our cars do not have carberators. We have throttle bodies. Carbs were taken off cars for good back in 1987. Why do you think it needs to be cleaned.

I was looking for reasons for poor acceleration! The car has 120K miles. I wish to know what I should look for and replace/repair. Thank you for bringing me several decades ahead

I saw your other post afterwards. What year/model car do you have. First things first.1) Fuel Filter2) Air Filter3) Run some fuel system cleaner through4) You've done the spark plugs5) double check your tire pressure6) Check your transmission fluid.7) Get the car checked for codes

If it's a 3.0L Max then you should have a pretty powerful car on your hands. Those are the first steps towards getting more power. You could be looking at your O2 sensors slowing down and giving bad readings. But you should always start with a good tune-up. You don't have any plugs/wires/ignition coils on these cars either. If you're still in the days of carburetors then you won't be happy with the fact that this type of problem is not as easy of a fix as it used to be.

Keep us posted and I'm sure more people will chime in with info

it was a typo. I meant plug wires/coil. I got carried away with the '/'s . As for ignition coils. Since the OP thought that the car had a carburetor then I'm hazarding a guess that he wouldn't think of coils in the same context as you two would. I should have explained that the motor uses a coil-on-plug system and not the single ignition coil/cap/rotor/wires that the older cars used.

if you had read my entire post you would've realized that it was a typo since I listed the fact that he had already changed the plugs in #4 on my list. Seriously.

If you really want more acceleration AFTER all that stuff a Y-pipe or exhaust is the way to go

that kills acceleration. You need backpressure for that!
