Where is the auto trans controller box located?

curiosity has got the best of me. Where is the auto trans controler dooflippy located on an S13,and what would happen if it was disconnected?

it's located under teh dash, on the passenger side of the trans tunnel. Disconnecting it while still having an auto transmission would mean you would go nowhere. the car wouldn't even start
