Hi,
I am new here. I have 97 Q45. The engine has had louder noise than usual for a few months. I don't drive much, less than 1000 mi a year. I replaced spark plugs last week at Goodyear.
Now I would like to replace PCV valve. I heard that it's an easy one. Can you please tell me where the PCV valve locate at ? I just bought one today from AutoZone for less then $2.00.
I don't know much about car. If you can provide me a picture, it will be very helpful. If you have time, please also provide me step by step how to replace it. Thanks in advance.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE THAT PCV FROM AUTOZONE. RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY. It 's diameter is @ 0.5mm bigger than OEM and you may end up breaking the PCV Grommet on the valve cover (as what happened to me, requiring removal of the valve cover to get it out) . Use only OEM or you can clean the old one and recycle. Search for a post from "q45tech" about PCV cleaning. Even the OEM is a bit tight so I used silicon lubricant around it and gently pressed it in.

THanks lino, loystock. I also ordered one from RockAuto. It's "Standard" brand. I understand it's OEM. What brand did you get when ordering from Infiniti ? Both the one from AutoZone and "Standard" brand look identical. From the picture from lino, they are two of them. I thought it's only one. I will take the easy one out first and measure it. I saw some oil leak from the top part of the engine. I am not sure if it relates to the PCV valve.
Thanks.

I took it out and measured it. The original one is smaller about .013 in. it looks different from Standard brand. I am glad that you replied me on time. I follow your advice to clean it instead. I went to AutoZone looking for the cleaner. I found CRC Carburetor cleaner. From the label, it can be used to clean PCV valve also. I bought one home. After cleaning, It rattles just like the new one.
The problem now is that after reading more on internet about carburetor cleaner, some people say that it may not save on plastic. What do you think about using CRC carburetor cleaner on q45 plastic PCV valve ? Will it be bad ? What should I do now ? Should I remove it and clean it again with something else? I just cleaned one of them. The one on the passenger side. I don't feel comfortable to use this cleaner again on another one. Thanks.

The Nissan part number for PCV is 11810-6P000 and the diameter is @ 13.25mm. Below is a thread about my experience with Autozone PCV as well as cleaning procedure, courtesy of "q45tech."
